Dear CARSP Members and fellow road safety professionals,
We are pleased to inform you that Transport Canada (TC) has published three non-regulatory guidance documents to support the safety and cyber resilience of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs):
- Transport Canada’s Vehicle Cyber Security Strategy (Cyber Strategy) sets out overarching goals and priorities that will collectively guide TC’s efforts on vehicle cyber security.
- The Vehicle Cyber Security Assessment Framework and Tool (VCAT) will support manufacturers and suppliers in assessing the cyber security performance and resilience of their vehicles and vehicle components.
- Guidelines for Testing Automated Driving Systems (ADS) in Canada Version 2.0 replaces our earlier guidance on automated vehicle testing published in 2018 and incorporates updated safety best practices for stakeholders
These documents build on the Department’s flexible and modernized motor vehicle safety regime, and complement TC’s broader suite of guidance and tools to support the safe and secure introduction of new vehicle technologies. Thank you for your ongoing collaboration.
Should you have questions regarding any of these documents, please feel free to contact Ibrahima Sow (Ibrahima.sow@tc.gc.ca) or Natalie Fraser (Natalie.Fraser@tc.gc.ca).
