CARSP Board Director Election – Call for Nominations – Deadline March 30th!
Last Updated on February 25, 2020
Nominations Sought for CARSP Board Directors
The Canadian Association of Road Safety Professionals (CARSP) is seeking directors for its Board. It is important to seek new directors to the Board on a regular basis to ensure fresh ideas are being considered in the management of CARSP
Number of Board Directors Sought
The CARSP Board can have a maximum of twenty directors. At present, only nineteen of these positions are currently filled. During this year’s election we would like to fill this vacant position. Furthermore, at this year’s Annual General Meeting in June, six board members’ terms are ending. Therefore, CARSP has seven director positions to fill.
CARSP Board Directors have the option of completing two back to back three-year terms, however, they must also go through the election process. Of the six Directors whose terms are ending in May, four have opted to run for re-election, and two are stepping down.
Members of CARSP are encouraged to nominate either themselves or another CARSP member. CARSP aims to serve all road safety professionals across the country so nominees should be currently active in one or more areas of road safety (e.g., research, policy/legislation, enforcement, education, engineering, injury prevention, public health, etc.).
In addition, we strive to have representation from all Canadian geographic areas. At present, we are encouraging members from the Atlantic Provinces and the Prairie Provinces to apply, along with members of Provincial Governments and those working in Injury Prevention or Enforcement.
As permitted by the CARSP Bylaws, an e-mail ballot will be prepared and sent to CARSP members April 7, 2020 asking members to elect Board directors. Members will be asked to indicate which seven nominees they would like to see elected to the Board. The election period will end April 28, 2020. The seven nominees who receive the most votes will fill the current board director positions.
Announcement of Election Outcome
Returning and newly elected board members will be notified of election results on April 29th. Election results will be announced to the general CARSP membership by email after all new board directors have accepted their positions.
