We are currently recruiting for an experienced Road Safety Engineer to join our Transportation Division in the
Engineering and Public Works department. If you are passionate about road safety and making streets in our
City safe for everyone, this is the position for you!

This newly created position will be responsible for the development and implementation of various road safety
initiatives in line with the City of Coquitlam’s overall priorities. This position will also be responsible for leading
the Road Safety Team with researching, planning, prioritizing, implementing and monitoring road safety
practices, engineering measures, school safety programs, safety toolkits, policies, and procedures; liaison with
various internal and external stakeholders, responding to public inquiries related to road safety, as well as
developing, organizing and leading traffic engineering studies, presentations and public events.

As the Road Safety Engineer you will have a key role in shaping transportation network in the City to reduce
fatal and serious injury crashes, particularly those involving vulnerable road users; You will prioritize and
implement safety improvements as identified in the Road Network Screening Study, lead development of the
City’s Road Safety Strategy and road safety programs, provide road safety expertise to internal and external
stakeholders, promote safety initiatives and pursue grant opportunities.

The ideal candidate has extensive transportation engineering experience, preferably in the municipal or public
sector, with excellent technical, customer service and budgeting skills, as well as high level experience in
planning and executing public consultation processes and presentations, along with advanced professional
report writing skills.

some flexible, remote work options available. The City has a vaccination policy in effect with requirements for
