Abstract
In April 2009, the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) approved a pilot program relating to the use of long combination vehicles (LCVs) in the province of Ontario. The pilot program allows the operation of LCVs in the province of Ontario on a primary highway network and to and from approved origin-destination (O/D) locations in close proximity to the primary highway network. This paper presents a methodology developed in consultation with the MTO to assess geometry, operations and safety along an LCV route.
