Injury Prevention Focused Road Safety Professional moving from Qatar to Canada, Looking for Opportunities

CARSP received a request to share the contact information and biography for a road safety professional from Qatar who is relocating to Canada.  Dr. Consunji  is looking for opportunities to contribute to injury prevention, specifically in the area of road crashes. Dr. Consunji is a general surgeon with additional training in public health [injury prevention & control], surgical critical care, minimally invasive and trauma surgery. He is currently the Director, Injury Prevention and Consultant, Trauma Surgery Section, Department of Surgery, Hamad Trauma Center, Hamad General Hospital. He was an Associate Professor of Surgery, Critical Care and Health Policy and the academic, clinical, administrative and research Director of the Surgical ICU (2003-2012) at the College of Medicine, Philippine General Hospital, University of the Philippines, Manila. He founded and managed a national non-profit organization focused on preventing unintentional injuries in children [SAFE KIDS Philippines] and he has managed and directed community-based road safety projects for children in China and South Korea. He has considerable experience in research, capacity building, policy formulation, program implementation and evaluation for injury prevention and trauma quality assurance in Qatar, Malaysia, the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific. He has been the recipient of research and program grants from the Qatar Foundation National Priorities Research Program, the Medical Research Center of the Hamad Medical Corporation, Department of Health (Philippines), World Health Organization (WPRO), the Road Traffic Injuries Research Network (World Bank Global Road Safety Facility), International Labour Organization and FedEx Express His academic and research interests include public health education and injury prevention (road, occupational and child safety) in low and middle-income countries, immigrant and migrant worker health, trauma systems and outcomes, trauma risk factor analysis (alcohol and drug abuse), surgical critical care education, surgical nutrition, surgical infection control, and trauma recidivism.
