Abstract

The Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) is constantly seeking to diversify the approaches it uses to reach people within their community in order to improve the efficiency of the road safety messages it wishes to deliver. The Year of Road Safety, which was held in 2007 and had a tremendous mobilizing effect on the many stakeholders involved, represented a key moment in the development of a regional approach to road safety. This strategy, the motor of which is the coordinator, is predicated on the sharing of expertise specific to each community stakeholder and the efforts made by all to improve road safety. Although it is still in its infancy, there are many examples of partnerships and winning road safety measures that provide evidence that regionalization can become a cornerstone of the operations of the SAAQ for the development of a sustainable road safety culture in Québec.
