In 2005, the OTC released the School Crossing Guard Guide. This document established a process for the identification, justification, installation and operation of School Crossings and School Crossing Guard programs. 10 years have now passed and several OTC member municipalities have expressed the need for a comprehensive review of the Guide. Over the last decade, the OTC developed new standards in Pedestrian Facilities and Bicycle Facilities which have had an impact on intersections and crosswalks across Ontario. Changes to the Highway Traffic Act since the School Crossing Guard Guide was first released, in 2005, also create a need for a review of the document.
The OTC is pleased to release a Request for Proposals to manage a consulting assignment which will develop uniformity across Ontario in the provision, identification, staffing and operation of School Crossings. Please review the RFP documents by clicking here: OTC School Crossing Guard Guide-RFP. Please note deadline is March 2nd, 2016.
