Title of Abstract
INFLUENCE OF RISK TAKING BEHAVIOR AND PERSONALITY ON MOTIVATION FOR TRAFFIC RULE VIOLATION
Background
THE RESEARCH WAS CONDUCTED ON CONCLUSION OBSERVATION THAT NIGERIA HAS CONSIDERABLE PROBLEMS WITH ROAD SAFETY WHICH MANIFEST IN THE NUMEROUS INCIDENCES OF ROAD ACCIDENTS
Aims
AM TRYING TO OBSERVE THE MAJOR CAUSES AND HOW TO ERADICATES AND MINIMIZE THIS CAUSES
Methods
The study utilized the ex post-facto design. A total of 247 randomly sampled from the different motorists either for commercial, personal or both purposes in different sectors-institutions,industries, transport workers to represent the population participated in the study.Three hypothesis were tested in the study using independent sample t-test and multiple regression analysis.
Results
The results indicated that risk taking behavior significantly impacted drivers attitude towards traffic violations
Discussion
Based on the findings, it waa recommended that a more feasible intervention for addressing traffic law violations would be to target young male drivers' attitude towards traffic safety particularly their risk-taking attitude which are strongly related to risky driving behavior in safety campaign's.
Conclusions
Call for proper licensing and personality profiling of motorcycle users which will allow The federal Road safety corps and other related organizations in Nigeria and around the world to frequently organize special enlightenment seminars especially for individuals with these personality traits
