CARSP Student Paper Competition and NEW! Student Poster Competition

Brought to you by…

CARSP | ACPSER

Western Ergonomics

This year we are offering two ways students can showcase their work on a road safety topic, and potentially earn cash prizes, free registration and travel allowances!  In addition to the CARSP’s Student Paper Competition, now in its 15th year, we are also offering a Student Poster Competition!  Participants must be registered in a Canadian university or college and must be the first author of their work.  Below is a brief description of each to help you decide which one to enter.  While students are invited to participate in both, original work can only be presented in one option only.

Student Paper Competition

The Student Paper competition requires that students produce their paper using a strict list of requirements.  The requirements used are those stipulated for submitting papers to the CARSP Conference itself.  While it is more work than submitting to the Poster Competition, the pay-off is also greater.  Here are the benefits of submitting to this option:

  • Opportunity to write a paper and receive feedback from experts in the same field
  • Opportunity to present your work in front of an audience of road safety professionals
  • Opportunity to win cash prizes:
    • $1000 for first place
    • $600 for second place
    • $400 for third place
  • Opportunity to win a travel allowance ($1,000 each for all top prizes)
  • Opportunity to win free registration for entire conference, including all sessions, events and specialty meals such as the Networking and Awards Banquet and the Young Professionals’ Committee Networking Reception.  This is also given to the two runners up (4th and 5th place).

Student Poster Competition

The Student Poster Competition requires that students complete an abstract outlining the content for their poster. Abstracts which get accepted are invited to come to the conference and the posters are judged at that time.  This option is intended to help introduce the author to conferences.  It is an opportunity to showcase your work, without taking too much time to produce.  The benefits of this option are as follows:

  • Opportunity to discuss your work with road safety professionals
  • Opportunity to win cash prizes:
    • $500 for first place
    • $350 for second place
    • $150 for third place
  • ALL accepted abstracts receive free day registration for the Poster Presentation Day of the Conference (Monday May 27th). This would give you access to all sessions and events, including the CARSP Annual General Meeting Luncheon, a professional development event on networking, and a networking reception put on by the CARSP Young Professionals Committee.
